Clinics

BMHA volunteers are required to attend specific clinics depending on the role that they will play within the association. This section of our website is designed to provide important information about the who, when and where these clinics are being offered for this hockey season.

As these clinics do tend to sell out quickly, once you have determined which clinics are required for the position you will be filling, you should contact the association who are hosting the clinic and register yourself as quickly as possible.

BMHA volunteers will have their clinic costs paid-back to them by the association upon providing a copy of the receipt along with verification of successful completion of the clinic. Please contact our Vice-President of Finance for details on getting reimbursed.

Speak Out Clinics

Speak Out clinics are mandatory for all team officials (coaches, managers, trainers) as well as all BMHA board members. This clinic is very informative and helps parents and volunteers in identifying and reporting any inappropriate behaviour or abuse.

Speak Out clinics can be found on the ODHA website by clicking here.

*** Please Note that as of 2009 Speak Out is included within the Coach Stream Clinic and you do not have to also take the stand alone Speak Out workshop.

Intro Coach Clinics

Intro Coach clinics are mandatory for all On-Ice Instructors, 16 years and older, at the IP Level (only).

Intro Coach clinics can be found on the ODHA website by clicking here.

Coach Stream Clinics

The Coach Stream clinic is mandatory for all head coaches of BMHA house league teams and assistant coaches at Competitive Levels. The Coach Stream course has 3 components:

Coach Stream clinics can be found on the ODHA website by clicking here.

Development 1 Coach Clinics

Development 1 Coach clinics are mandatory for all competitive level head coaches. Full certification at the Coach Stream level for one season is mandatory before any coach is eligible to take the Development 1 course.

Development 1 Coach clinics can be found on the ODHA website by clicking here.

Trainer 1 Clinics

Every team requires a certified Trainer to be at all team events throughout the season. Trainer 1 is a Risk Management course, and not a first aid course, and so exemptions are not allowed. All Trainers must complete Trainer 1.

After successfully completing Trainer 1, volunteers who can show current and valid CPR & First-Aid Training will be upgraded to Trainer 2 certification.

While Trainer 1 needs to be renewed (take the course again) after every 3rd season (date is recorded on Trainer Certification Card) Trainer 2 will renew along with CPR & First Aid Training dates (meaning you won't need to retake the Trainer Clinic).

Trainer 1 clinics can be found on the ODHA website by clicking here.
